# LoFi Music Hub

> A reference on lofi and study music. What the term low fidelity actually describes, where the music came from, how the records are produced, what the subgenres are, and what can reasonably be claimed about listening to it for focus and for sleep.

## How this site handles claims

- Where a mechanism is well established, such as sung language competing with reading, it is stated plainly.
- Where the popular version of a finding goes beyond the research, the page says so and explains where the gap is.
- No study is cited that is not named. No percentage, effect size or statistic appears anywhere on this site.
- Specifically rejected as unsupported: heart rate synchronisation to tempo, named brain wave frequencies producing named mental states, and the widely repeated decibel figure for background noise improving creativity.
- No musician, producer, label, release date, chart position or streaming total is invented. The only listening figures on the site are the view counts the GowiththeFLOW channel's own public feed reports.
- That feed does not return entries in date order. This site sorts by publication date before rendering. Build date: 25 August 2026.
- There is no client side JavaScript and no embedded player anywhere on this site.

Lofi is a genre where the production is the identity. Remove the saturation, restore the high frequencies, quantise the drums and delete the noise layer, and what remains is a slow instrumental sketch with jazz chords. These three guides cover the treatment that makes the difference.

As level rises, magnetic tape stops responding linearly, adding harmonics, rounding transients and losing high frequencies. Those three effects together are what listeners call warmth, and lofi production reproduces them deliberately.

None of these labels has an authority behind it. What is more useful than the names are the four axes underneath: how bright the top end is, how much noise is deliberately present, how much musical activity is going on, and whether the track has sections or is a loop.
